Subject: fur n feather , 13/9/14 at blythe waters Sun Sep 14, 2014 11:26 am
this years prize giving match was fished on the bridge pool at blythe waters in knowle. there were high expectations after last years match in which tony kibble broke the clubs record weight. but as per normal it went pear shaped . there was two matches taking place on the 35 peg pool and apart from a couple of pegs everyone struggled, with plenty of coments like "never known bridge fish so badly"! dave gordon won the match with an excellent 34lb on a hard day, i (keith smith) was second with 17lb, john goode snr third with 16lb and john poole came 4th with 12lb. very poor weights to be in the frame from such a good pool.there were a couple of knock out finals to be sorted with john pool beating neil macalinden to become 2014 singles champion. john with runner up neil below. there was also a doubles k.o final in which me and john snr beat neil and john cummins to become 2014 champions. below me and john celebrate our victory. john cummins below one of the runners up in the doubles final, bad luck john. and the other runner up neil who had a mixed day finishing a very good 6th on the day but got beat in both finals! unlucky neil. cheer up tony you can't win em all mate paul davis brings his fish to the scales. what can you say about this bloke yesterdays winner dave gordon must have been a catalogue model in a former life ! stuart never had his best day but put a few kippers on the scales andrew kibble weighs in and just missed out on the money coming 5th on the day. andrew keeps a straight face as i tell him he'd come fourth when he knew john poole had beat him!!!!!!!! it's the beasts turn to weigh in. shows how hard it was as micky only caught one fish all day but it was a good fish! john cummins turn at the scales assited by gordon and peter. alfie the man with one big ball has a smile on his face ! oh dear, it's mr grumpy! mark weigh's in as he finishes 7th for the 4th match in a row! my turn to find a few tiddlers from the depths of my keep net. gordon did another great job on the scales along with peter. colin drags em ashore.
well thats the fur n feather done. one match left and thats in 3 weeks time on the cut behind the hare and hound pub down to the boat pub, could be plenty of liquid refreshment on the tow path well done all.
