well the season has flown past once again and saturday saw us fish our last match of the season the annual fur & feather match at blythe waters on bridge pool.
as soon as we reached our pegs the heavens opened and we had to set up in the rain
the good news was it only lasted about twenty minutes and the sun came out
. i drew peg 9 at the top end of the pool and i had adrian and dan constable to my left and bob williams and tony kibble to my right. i had high hopes for this match but as always seems to happen it fished really hard
i started on the pellet feeder to the island in front of me while feeding corn under a over hanging tree in my right hand margin. almost an hour in and not one real rip round bite
adrian was first to land a real fish dragging in a decent carp from next to the island.i kept feeding corn under the tree setting a trap for later on. i decided to to cast my pellet feedr to a floating island to my left and almost straight away i was in yippeeeeeeeeeee at last
adrian must have noticed as he cast his feeder to the other side of my floating island and was in to a couple carp in no time at all. my side went dead so i decided it was time to get the pole out and lowered a large ball of pellet paste under the tree. first put in my float dipped and i was into a bloody good fish but not for long the sodding thing took me into the tree roots and done me good and proper! fish gone and all i had on my hook was a huge carp scale, oh dear i said to my self to be honset it was more like ****ing hell:lol!: .time went on and i landed 4 carp and lost 3 i spent more time watching the cray fish crawling all over the tree roots under my peg.i knew not a lot was being caught down our end but i was sure someone would be bagging down the other end of the pool.as it turned out the 4 top weights me included all carp 4 carp only it was even worse up the other end, very strange
in the end big jim langston won the match in the golden peg
he finished the day with 90 quid from the golden peg the pools money 10 cans of bear and won the pairs k.o. with dave gordon, i bet he's had worse days
well done jim.nick came second, adrian 3rd and my good self 4th. so on to the pictures and first up we find dave gordon who caught 5 good chub and nothing else for 12lb a very strange catch on a pool full of very big carp. i think he was fishing the river behind the pool
here he is with his biggest chub.
