well thirteen brave souls turned up to fish this one in sub zero conditions. after having lets say a minor disagreement with stormin norman the fishery owner over peg prices it was down to ice breaking duties dave gordon and gordon chester did sterling work with old car parts attached to a rope, hows your blisters dave? alfie mobbs used a rake on a rope and neil found a long iron bar very useful! anyway with an eskimo hole each to fish in it was down to work! and damned hard work it was as well about half an hour into the match john poole fell off his box, colin in the next peg helped up and sorted his box out for him. i then watched john fall off again! he didn't topple off he had passed out. this was serious stuff. on the floor john blacked out again his eyes spinning like a fruit machine. dave and colin talked to john and brought him round tony called for an ambulance and i gave him the address with the wrong road name !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! anyway ambulance arrived about ten minutes late due to my directions sorry john. by the time the paramedics arrived john had a bit more colour in his face, THANK GOD! all the lads helped push the stretcher through the mud to get john plus sons mark and adrian on their way to solihull hospital. we decided to carry on fishing as there was nothing else any of us could do . thanks to all the lads for looking after john.anyway back to the fishing there was only two people who caught more than one fish on the day me and neil, trouble was mine were both sticklebacks! neil caught four tiddlers which was enough for second place on the day with 12 oz. micky davis won the match with a single carp of 1lb 4oz. never known highley's fish so poorly, even when there's been ice on it in the past. below a few pictures of the lads breaking the ice. alf in actoin, daft sod
dave gordon in action
gordon doing a splended job.
the next few pictures are of john and i have no idea who took them
just to let you all know john is ok and been told to take it easy for a while. get well soon john we all want you back on the bank with your rod in your hand
