highley farm open 26/03/11

well here we go again the 2011 season started with an open match at highley farm and after a few members had , had a day down there in mid week big,big weights were expected.
well as per normal the sunny weather vanished replaced by a much colder day with a strong breeze blowing towards the car park pegs. i drew well ( i don't think!) peg three on the car park side had john cummins and dave gordon to my right and gordon chester to my left. well on we battled in the awful breeze blowing straight into our faces i could see the likes of neil, my dad paul etc fishing the other side of the pool with no wind and no ripple on the water at all, jammy gits!
anyway on we went and i could see that neil was catching well off the surface but apart from him most of us were strugling which was strange for this venue. dave gordon lost a good fish and and had a good old moan about it colin lost a good fish (shame ) i had four decent carp but it was hard work. any way neil manaaged to win his first ever match with 23lb of carp and also a mention for colin who was in the money finishing a creditable 3rd with 13lb 8oz. lets hope the fishing improves for our next match at the same venue in 3 weeeks time. anyway here's a few pics of the weigh in taken by john poole (thanks john) thanks to everyone who turned up and congratulations neil
