well after all the red hot weather we have had of late we went fishing and put an end to that
our 3rd bye match took place at the riddings on the folly pool. a lovely looking pool with some very big carp living in it, trouble is they didn't want to come out to play!
anyway on with the match and in peg 19 was my old man ken smith who managed to loose his rod ,reel and everything else attached to it on his first cast! pulled in by a large carp!
at the end of the match he put 05-02-00 onto the scales and that was enough to win him this years veterans trophy.
just along the bank we find mr andrew kibble setting up before the off. andrew managed 04-08-00 today and finished a creditable equal 9th.
another one competeing for the veterans trophy was stan "the man" chester who matched andrews weight and came second to ken smith in the veterans trophy.
here we find our top man mr preece with as per normal a drink in his hand
well after reaching the dizzy heigths of the singles k.o. quarter finals and being half way up the the aggregate table it was back to normal ,dave didn't manage to catch to day.
next we come to mark poole with that famous ledgering rod of his that has done so much damage of late. mark fished yet another blinder landing 08-08-00 to finish 5th on the day.
we now come to another one of the chesters clan, gordon. he too had a decent day putting 06-04-00 onto the scales to come 6th.
back in action after missing out on the last match because of holiday we find tony kibble setting up before the whistle. tony is always there or there abouts and today was no different finishing 4th with 09-02-00.
cheer up david it can't be that bad mate!
david evans had a decent day coming 11th with 03-12-00
oi,oi it's my turn fishing in peg 7 i managed 4 carp for 15-08-00 to come 2nd on the day.
and here he is mr davis winner on the day with a good bag of carp wieging in at 21-08-00.
well done micky
and here we find jolly john cummins. john worked hard today but only managed to put 00-04-00 on the scales but enjoyed his day out in the glorious sun shine
what can be said about this chap apart from he is the most consistant member in the club and once again he did not let us down putting 00-01-00 on the scales
well done alfie!
my neighbour for the day was colin horner and although he only landed 00-08-00 it was enough to get him into the semi final of the singles k.o. beating alfie. well done colin
no wonder i didn't catch much today with this this huge shadow hanging over my peg
it's big pete who came 4th today weighing in 14lb dead and it was enough for him and my old man to knock me and john poole out of the doubles k.o. by 2oz
hello smiler
it's john jnr looking happy enough even though he only managed 12oz today.
good to see john snr on the bank today. still not well enough to fish but we hope to see him with a rod in his hand again very soon. look after your self john.
oh dear and there was me thinking colin had the worst hat in the club!
it's dave gordon he's not having the greatest time at the moment blanking today. never mind dave won't be long to the next match where i'm sure he'll put things right.
neil mcalinden posing for the camera before the off. neil caught 04-12-00 of bits to finish 8th today.
talking of posers it's clubs own david bailey
john poole my doubles partner landed 03-08-00 to finish the day in 12th place.
weighing in time and mark and peter doing ther normal excellent job.
weights were not brilliant today but i think the sudden change in weather didn't help us. anyway thanks to everyone who attened the match and i'll see you soon at the next meeting , cheers lads.
