i have called a couple of clubs with venues on the upper trent. they want clubs booking their waters to have insurance before you can book matches on their waters so there out. i have been looking for waters with safe low banks and not far to walk because of the age of a lot of our members, i want everyone to enjoy their fishing without getting hurt so that rules out the severn and avon. i have come up with three different rivers with low banks it's hard to find these so have a look and see what you think.
all these are baa wateres first up the river trent at handsacre  between lichfield and kings bromley. match would take place first sat october 2016.
click link below .then click gallery tab images above map ,7 pictures. click first picture to enlarge. the first picture shows parking behind the pegs.

the second option is the river anker at bolehall tamworth. half a dozen armchair pegs next to fishery entrance. again match would take place first week oct 2016 agian click link below then click image gallery  above mapto see all 29 pegs.

third and final option would take place as the annual in july 2016 and would be held on the river salwarpe at clains ,worcester worcester.
stretch runs into the severn  and would include a couple of pegs on the severn on the other side from hallow which are beach style pegs. again click link below then image gallery above the map to see pictures

see what you think let me know at september meeting and ill get most popular booked.
cheers lads.

I mailed a couple of lads that are river anglers for their opinions and you can see their replies below. It may help members decide ( I have also mailed Trentman who is mentioned in one of the replies)
Hope it helps lads

Hi Mal

Hope you're well and all OK

I'm looking for a little advice on the following. I can't remember thelast time I fished a river and knowing you fish them regularly I thought you may be the one to ask! We wont be fishing this match until October next year but our secretary has to book them way in advance. Could you have a look at the secretaries post below and see if you have fished any of thes venues and if you were in my position which one you would choose. I would really value your opinion.

Cheers Malall the best

Jim

Hi Jim,good to hear from you mate,i,m fine thanks how about you and your lovely wife?
Personally mate i think i,d dismiss Bolehall as it,s very peggy and not what i,d call a match water, same applies to the salwarpe nice
to pleasure fish but not the best for a match,So of the 3 i would plump for Handsacre
mate plenty of silvers and some good bream if you can find em.On saying that the pegs in the trees tend to fish better,so if you can get everyone in the trees you should have a decent match. Mal

Hi Jim
Hope your well mate.
i have fished Claines many times - its a nice little river, which holds roach, dace, perch, chub and the occasional barbel, ideal for float and small feeder fishing, fishes better when there is a bit of water on the Severn as it backs up. maggot and hemp. gets lots of bookings around Oct/Nov time for the roach fishing, so might be your banker mate

Handsacre i've not fished there yet but trentman3 maybe of help on that one. he lives around there

Bolehill on the Anker is easy parking on the social club some nice pegs there bottyboy (Craig) fished it last season ive only fished it roving for chub once not under match conditions
holds the occasional barbel with roach and dace

sorry cannot be of anymore help on those last two

all the best
Tony

a bit more info from jim.

Keith

My mate Mal (Bluemack off maggotdrowners) as got back to me again with a suggestion of blackrock on the severn where you can park behind your pegs,or cleeve prior may be another option for you (see below)

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi again jim, don,t know if you can wangle anything but Blackstone on the severn near Bewdley you can drive to every peg and good fishing OR Cleeve Prior is a drive to your peg stretch, might be worth asking
