Subject: 3rd winter league match 2013/14 lavender hall Sat Mar 01, 2014 7:33 pm
15 hardy souls turned up to do battle in round 3 of our winter league series at laveneder hall and was fished on bens pool. after a heavy frost i knew it was going to be hard going. as it turned out the sun came out and we couldn't have asked for better weather for the time of year. i was pegged on the station side of the pool with dave gordon and neil maca for neighbours. from the off all the lads on the other bank started to catch. gordon and john snr being the main culprits, bagging up . on my side of the pool we all seemed to be struggling. alfie mobbs couldn't even hit the water with his casts! how you keep missing the lake in front of you is a mystery but he did on more than one occasion after about the first hour and a half it turned cold and the clouds rolled in. the bagging on the other bank stopped apart from john goode who kept on knocking out roach from start to finish of match. dave gordon dragged out a 5 pound carp and a near 2lb perch in 2 casts as the match drew to towards the the last knockings we were into not fergie time but micky time and as per normal mr davis did it again hooking and landing a good size carp which won him the match with 9-9-0. well done again micky. before we started fishing colin thought he'd show neil what a big boy he was up in the corner big pete was having fun catching trees! john goode looks more like a russian cossack than a fisherman here we find stan the man ready to do battle before the off big bad john sorts his tackle out before the off andrew ready for the off. micky in the winning peg it was great to have one of our old members back on the bank with us and paul davis as per normal put a few fish in the net! is that one of those monster roach putting a bend in tony's pole or is it just his plummet? there's always one poser in every club and here's our's dave gordon alf was his normal self giving me the fingers!!!! neil still bent over and looking sore after a damn good rodgering from colin! new boy stuart was winning at one stage but only because he weighed in first! micky weigh's in his match winning bag of fish. thers a fish in there somewhere tony! pauls turn to weigh in dave with his smashing perch well thats all the photo's for the day, well done micky. looking foreward to next month's last winter league match at curborough. see you all there gentlemen
