well this was our last aggregate match of the season. so it was off to the country side, sunny small heath!
we were fishing cornerstone a.c. stretch of the grand union canal. this was also the veterans trophy match. we parked up on wallworks car park and walked back across the bridge and on to the tow path. the cut was quite wide here and there were a lot of fish topping which was a good sign. i was pegged at the top end along with dave gordon and gordon chester. gordon was into a small fish first cast and dave wasn't far behind him. there was a big gap in the pegging so i could only see what dave and gordon were catching . i was catching small roach, perch, gudgeon and a few bonus skimmers. dave and gordon were also banging out tiddlers all day long. the other lads must also have been catching as there were no bank walkers moaning about catching bugger all
the traffic on the tow path was a lot more busy than the boat traffic, never seen so many bike riders:roll:
in the end micky davis came out on top with a good bag of small fish with tony just pipping me for second place (git!
) unlike last years canal match there were no dry nets. john poole won this years veterans trophy, well done champ
