well myself and colin decided to have a go on harry's pool at jersey wood today. on arriving and walking around the pool we saw plenty of good size carp leaping from the water, good news!
starnge thing was that there was no one else fishing , could be bad news!!!!!
we decided to fish pegs 10 and 11 the island pegs. we both started on the pellet feeder and i was first to bank a fish a pristine carp of about 2 lbs.then it was colins turn he had 3 and lost 1 all around the 5lb mark. colin stayed with the pellet feeder all day and had a good day catching well over 30lb all carp. i changed to the pellet waggler up in the water, waste of time! no bites no surface swirls at all. then fished waggler on the deck fishing corn had one about 3lb and lost another 3! went back to pellet feeder but no joy! set the pole up fishing midway between bank and island about 5 feet deep with paste on the hook. caught a couple and lost a couple of good fish. then switched to maggots and got a lot more bites and landed a good few carp although they were a lot smaller on the maggot from about 6oz to 1 1/2 lb. colin switched to meat for the last half hour and hit a biggy!
sadly he lost the fish witch straightened out his hook.
well found out that pellets, corn , paste and meat will catch you bigger stamp of fish up there, but maggots will get you a lot more bites. it's not a bite a chuck but there's plenty of good fish in there. all fish are in vey good condition. no fish cruising at all, all fish caught on the deck. lets just hope it fishes just as well with all of us around the lake. more worried about the weather forecast.
not the best fisheries but by no means the worst, looking foreward to saturday's match up there.
