well after last weeks heat wave it was back to normal october weather for this match, cold and windy and lucky me drew a peg with the full force of a north westerly blowing right into my face!
while setting up i noticed no one was in the peg to my right which was strange as all pegs, pegged out by tony and dave should have been fished?
after asking tony who should be fishing to my right he scratched his head and said me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he was in the wrong peg and he pegged the match, daft sod
with the whistle blown i could see paul davis across the pool playing a carp first cast, this looked good for the rest of us, how wrong i was
an hour gone and not even a bite
the cold wind seemed to have killed the fishing. plenty of carp leaping out of the water but not many being caught. around the corner i was fishing it was all small silver fish roach, ide and skimmers. i knew tony had laneded a carp as i heard the splashing but it was hard going for us all. with an hour to go the carp seemed to switch on on the other side of the pool with dave gordon, micky davis (guest) john poole and my dad all getting into some decent fish.at the whistle there was a lot of head shaking going on as we couldn't believe how badly it had fished. until the scalesmen got around to our micky davis 6lb 80z caught by big peter was winning. at least micky caught a few with 13lb plus on the scales followed by dave gordon 15lb plus and guest micky davis 14lb. john poole also had a few but the shock of the day my old man put 16lb 4oz on the scales, the old sod had only gone and won it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the winner with his coach richard and big peter saying well done behind them
strange lot we have in our club
the inquest begins in the car park, what went wrong?
