well on a beautiful saturday morning the boys from the bromford headed off to coppice lane fishery near lichfield.
when i say a beautiful morning i mean it was pouring down!
after 9 nine matches in the summer months without a sniff of rain it has now poured on us in all three winter league matches so far this year, NO MORE PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
anyway draw done and off we trudged to our pegs through the mud
i had colin hewitt and peter mcalinden for neigbours for the day.first job get the brollies up. it was so wet i couldn't be bothered to get my pole of of my bag i just set up a straight lead rig on my ledger rod.whistle blown and off we went. i started quite well netting 3 tench and a roach in the first hour.then the wind got up and boy did it start to blow.
peter hadn't had a bite for the first hour or so but then in 5 minutes he netted two very large carp!
alfies brolley pole snapped so strong was the wind and that was enough for him after a couple of hours fishless and soaked alfie, tony And mark packed up and headed for home. the rest of us idiots battled on to the end
this is what i was looking at for 5 hours from my peg. at this time the wind hadn't got up to surfing proportions!
big pete in the next peg to me
and to my left big colin hewitt enjoying sun!
and to colins left the beast mr davis ready for action.
jim langston in the back ground who battled all day in the wind with his pole tactics.
mark enjoying a much needed cuppa
mr mobbs crying his eyes out
it's santa gordon in the corner peg
tony kibble has had better days by the water.
macca ready for the whistle to blow.
it's thumbs up from mr horner he had a great day.
santa talking to himself again!
mr hewitt setting up
well in the end big peter won it with colin second. when you consider the awful weather we battled through the fishing wasn't bad at all with no dry nets from the 8 of us that fished the whole match. well done everyone and i must say well done mark for dressing up as one of santa's little helpers, he came dressed as an elf!
it was that wet and muddy i never got a picture of him. everyone went home with a prize , well i enjoyed it anyway
thanks everyone and i hope you all have a great christmas.
